Years ago, families packed into the station wagon and headed out on vacation and stopped at hotels when they got tired. They would have their favorites, but any clean and comfortable room would do for road weary travelers. Now, traveling is simplified and streamlined but families still have their favorite places to stop and get a good night's sleep. The next time you are planning a vacation, choose stopping points based on the amenities offered to you.

When traveling with children, you may want to look for hotels that offer family suites. Family suites offer a little more space so that you do not feel cramped during your stay. If you need room for a portable crib or playpen, a family suite will allow you to add this item without taking up too much room. Additionally, these suites often have a wall (or half-wall) dividing the sleeping spaces so that there is a little more privacy than a large, open room.

If you are going to be spending more than a day or two in the same location, you will want to look at additional amenities that may be offered. There will obviously be housekeeping available as well as general use of the facilities, but some hotels offer laundry service and concierge service. Wi-Fi is also a nice amenity to have so that you can keep up with folks back home via your favorite social networking service. Also, if you need to keep tabs on the office, Wi-Fi can make connecting with the office a quick and painless experience.
